Hi, this is Aly and thanks for stopping by my page. I am a Singaporean multi-disciplinary artist- art direction, paintings, sound and video installations, video performance, prints, etc. I am a full-time freelance artist and I make for a living.
Click on PORTFOLIO to see my work.
After completing 6 years at School of The Arts Singapore (SOTA), I did my bachelors in Fine Art (Hons) from University of the Arts London, Chelsea College of Arts and came back to sunny Singapore in the midst of the pandemic in 2020.
I started Byalymo in early 2021 as an avenue to support myself through my art. It is where I sell my art and things that I produce and focus on hand-done processes. I am currently open for commissions, do email me if you are interested.
Read more about Byalymo here.
I've always described my practice as a search - for a sense of belonging, whether in a place, space or your body. An encapsulation of personal anecdotes and explorations of feeling in-between, the now, the odd, the uncanny, The Observer and The Observed.
My undergraduate dissertation "Fear Thyself" (2020), is an introspective analysis on how fear manifests itself at different stages of my life. The writing includes religious themes, the notion of The Divided Self, The Uncanny and anxiety that have all informed my practice in more recent times.
